My DVD-Rom drive disappeared from My Computer, so I went to the Device Manager to update the driver. The error it was giving me was that the driver is corrupted / windows could not find the driver files. I tried updating the driver but none were found online. A quick fix is to delete these registry keys located at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Delete the UPPERFILTER and the LOWERFILTERS files (not the .bak files)!!
